In early childhood education, effective early childhood professionals need a strong background in early education and child development.  Teachers should have the warmth and sensitivity to engage children and foster positive interactions. 

 

To address this issue and improve child care quality, we have created the Teacher Scholarship program that awards early childhood teachers scholarships to increase the education level of teachers, directors and family home providers in partnership with Tidewater Community College (TCC).  Since 2009, we have awarded 352 scholarships.
